Economic Development Partnership Launched

For more than a year, leaders of local development groups, including the Chamber, worked out details for formalizing a partnership designed to bring new employers to the community. The plan for creating the Danville/Boyle County Economic Development Partnership was announced in December, 2005. The new organization will replace the Community Development Council, which has disbanded. The new organization is designed to gain efficiency in the development efforts of its partners—the Heart of Danville Main Street Program, the Boyle County Industrial Foundation, the Danville/Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Danville/Boyle County Chamber of Commerce.

The partnering groups, which will retain their autonomy and individual boards of volunteer directors, will be represented on the new board. The mayor of Danville and the county judge executive will also be represented on the Economic Development Partnership board of directors. Both city and county governments have voted to provide funds for the new organization's initial operating costs.
